Dennis Macdonald has spent his career arguing the gospels are not reporting history but imitating Homer's epics. He does not say they are plagiarizing or copying, but many who use his work use this language despite him not. Regardless, we looked at his claims and what his critics have to say. Be advised, we used the wrong book cover for Keener's commentary on Acts. The actual cover should be: Acts: An Exegetical Commentary: (Introduction and Acts 1:1-2:47, Volume 1).
