Let me explain what I mean by that: I noticed with my own kids that when I tried to equip them to spot bad ideas in media, they would get defensive, fearing I would take the show or movie away. I had to explain: "I am actually more prone to let you engage with this media if I am confident you can discern it properly. If you defend a bad idea, it makes me think you can't see through it."
