Sacrifice is not a natural impulse. This is mostly because we are all innately selfish. We think about self-first. Yet sacrifice, lay down our wants and desires for others, is to think of others-first. In fact Jesus once said that there is no greater love than for a man to lay his life down for his friends. This act of daily laying our life down is to de-elevate self and elevate another person and mission above your own.
