From there it moves into the cochlea, which amplifies it again by 22 times through liquid. Inside the cochlea, 20,000 tiny hair cells open and close chemical doors that convert sound waves into brain signals. Those signals then travel down a wire wrapped around a nerve so your brain can interpret what you're hearing. Five separate systems. All working in perfect sequence. All required simultaneously for any of it to work at all.
