H.B. Charles Jr. became a pastor at seventeen, succeeding his father a year after he died. When a charismatic book started circulating in his traditional Baptist church, he saw an ad for Charismatic Chaos in a magazine and went looking for it. The young woman behind the counter told him yes, they carried John MacArthur — but he didn't want those books, because MacArthur doesn't believe in the gifts.
