The Trump administration says its naval blockade and economic pressure campaign are severely damaging Iran’s economy, military capabilities, and ability to fund terrorist groups. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced additional measures aimed at further isolating Iran, while Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said the U.S. Navy can sustain the Strait of Hormuz blockade indefinitely. President Trump stated the U.S. maintains control of the strategic waterway, although Iran disputes that claim. Tensions remain high after the UAE accused Iran of attacking two oil company vessels. Vice President JD Vance said U.S. goals are preventing Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon and restoring stability to global energy markets. Israel is also monitoring renewed terrorist activity in Gaza and addressing violence in Judea and Samaria. U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee rejected reports of a rift between President Trump and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, describing their relationship as honest and cooperative despite occasional disagreements. Huckabee expressed concern over growing anti-Israel sentiment and rising Jew hatred worldwide, saying social media, foreign influence campaigns, and misinformation are fueling hostility. He emphasized the historic relationship between Israel and the United States and warned that Jewish communities face increasing threats. In a second interview segment, Huckabee reflected on first visiting Israel in 1973 and said he has witnessed extraordinary economic growth, development, and agricultural transformation. He described Israel’s progress as evidence of biblical prophecies being fulfilled and said he sees miracles in the country every day. A special report marked 21 years since Israel’s 2005 disengagement from Gaza and northern Samaria, when thousands of Israelis were removed from 25 communities. The report reviewed the history of Jewish life in Gaza, the growth of the Gush Katif communities, and the aftermath of the withdrawal. Former residents and supporters argued the disengagement paved the way for Hamas’ rise, years of rocket attacks, and ultimately the October 7 massacre.
