What they actually discovered were scattered bone fragments that were grouped together and interpreted as belonging to a transitional human ancestor. But in museums and textbooks, Homo habilis is shown as a fully reconstructed creature with human features, such as eye whites, which apes don't have. These pictures are based on artistic interpretation than from the actual fossils. 😐 In the same area where the fossils were found, researchers also found evidence of butchering activity and structures that sound way more consistent with intelligent human behavior already existing there.
