Falling ≠ Failure

Oftentimes new believers will feel like they aren’t saved anymore because they fall back into a old sin. They cursed, got drunk, had s*x, or stole something. At this point they feel like failures, they hate themselves because they fell right back into sin. In scripture we see this as well, many times in fact in Paul’s writings in which he reminds them of the world that has been done in their lives. Pointing them to Jesus and what that means for their lives. As fellow brothers and sisters we need to ask the right questions. Asking if they hate their sin, if they are sorry for what they have done, if they are being convicted of their sin. We can be a great encouragement or a great discouragement in their lives depending on how we approach their admission of sin. Before we react we need to remember the many times we have fallen as well. The great grace and mercy we have been shown, and are still being shown. Let us be good brothers and sisters in the faith to those that are just learning to walk in the way of Christ.
