Day 42 | Exodus 32:1–34:35
Israel falls into idolatry by worshiping the golden calf while Moses is on Mount Sinai. Despite experiencing God’s miracles, the people grow impatient and demand a god they can see. Aaron gives in, and God’s anger burns against them—so much so that He is ready to destroy them. But Moses intercedes on their behalf, pleading for mercy, and God relents. The discussion highlights how this story reflects our tendency to create idols in our own lives, as well as the power of prayer to move the heart of God.
